The Planning Department has identified enough zoning capacity on our commercial corridors to meet the state mandate without the need to rezone single-family neighborhoods. This fact is supported by a letter from the State ( Housing and Community Development-HCD) to Vince Bertoni dated November 18 that states the Draft as currently written meets the HCD’s requirements for approval. We think the PLUM members will vote in favor again at City Council that would include Lee-Hutt-Yarouslavsky-Padilla. We think McOsker-Park-Rodriquez should also support. We aren’t sure of Blumenfield, Krekorian but most likely support. No idea about Harris-Dawson, Price. Hugo has stated support but could need more outreach, Raman-Hernandez are probably a no.It’s up to all of us to relay to these councilmembers our position. Let’s take no one for granted. Those of you who have PLUM councilmembers could start your message with a “thank you for approving this draft at the PLUM meeting.”Remember we wanted this CHIP/Housing Element to remove single-family neighborhoods. The Community Plans which are being worked on simultaneously can still rezone them. But in Community Plans we have a better shot at getting changes made to the final plan. We will work on these next with you.Again, all these letters to our councilmember should happen before Thanksgiving. I will try and post the letter from the HCD soon.Best,Maria, Cindy, Jeff, Marc
