President’s Corner 06.18.2024
I apologize for not producing a “President’s Corner” in May, but due to many personal issues and commitments, time just ticked away. However, June is here and coming to a rapid ending. Of course, with the end of June, comes, graduation, weddings, warm summer nights, baseball, picnics, vacations, travel and of course the 4th of July.
Speaking of the 4th of July, the SSCA is sponsoring a “Celebration of America” Thursday in upper South Shores on Vallecito Drive between Anchovy and Pelican. Festivities begin at noon and ending 4pm. Thereby leaving sufficient time to view sanctioned firework shows throughout the South Bay area. Please come join us celebrating the “birth of the greatest Nation on earth”. Both members and non-members are invited to attend, however, we encourage non-members to join.
The Months of May and June have presented health challenges to several of our “Leadership Team”. Dave Billings gallbladder, John Lang cancer, Jerry Gaines pneumonia, Bob Genest severe allergies. Let’s hope and pray that there is no correlation between SSCA Board participation and illness; thereby avoiding a “health warning” statement. Please join me in wishing all a speedy and lasting recovery.
Membership continues to increase as the result of a second series of letters to non-members and lifetime members. The membership now stands at 374 and counting. In hopes of continued outreach, additional activities continue to be added to the SSCA mantra i.e.,
- 4th of July “Celebration of America”
- NNA “National Night Out, Monday August 6th.
- Cocoa in the Cul -de-Sac and other activities conducted throughout the year

The SSCA is not just a wine and cheese social gathering, but rather an active association bringing our neighbors together for activities and gatherings that enhance safety (in and out of the home), collaboration, information and communications based on facts, not emotional bias. While there are those who chose divineness, your SSCA chooses to sort out the facts, facilitate open dialogue while respecting opposing views. “United We Stand”!
- As of this date, although the Zoning Commission has approved the 25th & Western B of A project, an appeal is expected.
