The 2023 membership drive is now underway. Invoices and invitations are being mailed to ALL 1,316 South Shores residents. Hopefully, both existing and new members take this opportunity to join early in the year. Signs will once again be posted in various ‘high profile” areas around South Shores.
This year’s SSCA Annual Meeting will be hosted at the Elks Club on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 7pm. Plans continue to hold the SSCA Members Only Reception at the Elks Club once again; stay tuned.
The entire South shores was lit up in much splendor for the annual South Shores Holiday Decoration Contest. Awards were delivered to the winners. This year’s selection was a difficult one, so much so, that four awards were awards. Enthusiasm was high and several neighbors suggested a Halloween event.
The Sociables will resume their “get togethers” February 12.

Glen Acosta will present a status report to the SSCA Board February 21 on the Clearwater Project. Several neighbors have reported that the new security company at Royal Palms is doing a responsible job.
The property developer for the Smart & Final location reported a remodel is now scheduled for some time in spring/summer of 2023.
CyberWatch and LAPD reports, indicate that South Shores community, is still the safest area in San Pedro; this is in spite of some nefarious activity lately. There have been numerous sightings of coyotes, consequently, be extra cautious with small pets and open back yards.
My meeting with Councilman Tim McOsker, unfortunately was rained out. Topics for discussion, the many unresolved “open issues” affecting South Shores.
Reminder, there will be a Memorial gathering Sunday January 29th, 10 am at Bogdanovich Park for former President of the South Shores Community Association, Noah Modisett.
The SSCA annual membership drive is now in full swing, invoices for 2023 are being sent out mid-January, invoicing all known and active members. The 2023 Membership donation remains the same at $20.00 for the year. The SSCA year is January 1 through December 31 of that ensuing calendar year.
